Singing

Ready, Set, Sing! The Performance
Instructor: Cindy Nelson

Pre-Requisite: Vocal Technique/Audition Class
Ok, you’ve chosen the perfect song for the audition, you’ve got it memorized, and your vocals have improved, so then what else is there to learn? A bunch! What about song interpretation and movement? What about the actual performance? In this performance driven singing class, you will learn special tips on what to do before during and after an audition. You will discover vocal and song techniques when you need a “quick-fix” to better your singing audition. This class is the extra practice you desire to standout amongst the rest.

Vocal Technique/Audition Preparation Workshop
Instructor: Cindy Nelson

If you love to sing, wish to improve your vocal abilities and want to build confidence singing in front of a group...then this is the class for you! In this class students will work as a group and individually in learning vocal warm-ups, vocal techniques and exercises, and proper breathing. We will also cover choosing the appropriate song for your range and talents, plus efficient practice techniques. Each student will work at his or her own singing level. This class will get you on your way to a better prepared more enhanced singing audition.

Broadway Sing-Along
Instructor: Cindy Nelson

Do you love to sing? Do you love musicals? Then join in the fun! Come explore your own vocal talents and learn how to better manage your voice while singing some of the greatest musical theater songs ever written. Learning to become a better singer will be fun and exciting in this class.

Broadway, Sung My Way

Are you always singing along to musicals or your Ipod? Do you want your vocals to develop and improve? Then this class is exactly what you are looking for. Come find your voice, explore your singing talents, and discover how you can improve your vocal abilities, while singing a number of your favorite musical theater songs.

Acting

Acting in Musicals
Instructor: Comika Beaudry

Have you ever wondered why some musicals are amazing and inspiring while others fall flat? Or why some technically proficient singers and dancers never get the parts they want? The answer is they are only participating in half of the story they are trying to tell. If your acting doesn’t compliment your other talents, then it’s holding you back from being the real triple threat you need to be. This class will help the scripted parts of musicals you love come alive.

Comedic Acting
Instructor: Spencer Borup

Making an audience cry from laughter is possibly the greatest feeling ever! This class gives you a chance to fine-tune your funny bone with comedic exercises that involve the whole group! These exercises explore the ability to play many different characters (some turning out to be extremely hilarious!). Come join this "comedy troupe" and put a smile on!

Fairytale Musical Theatre
Instructor: Spencer Borup

Exclusively for preschoolers, this class will take your child to the land of pretend, where he or she will dress up and act out scenes from famous fairytales such as Cinderella, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and more. This class includes games and activities that will help your child discover the magical world of musical theatre.

Introduction to Musical Theatre
Instructor: Spencer Borup, Jinnae Barrett

This class will focus on a brief overview of three key areas of musical theater. Proper singing technique, basic dance and movement and stage terminology are covered. This is an ideal class for the beginning actor or actress.

Mini-Musical for Homeschoolers
Instructor: Spencer Borup

This exciting, full-throttle class will give you the chance to write your own musical! Each student will be a part of this collaboration, creating their own lead role and helping with the story. The musical numbers will then be written for the class by the musically trained teacher, and the class will perform the original musical on the last week. Be sure to sign up for this innovative, unique experience!

Dance

Beginning Tap
Instructor: Terri Taylor

Beginning tap introduces all the tap basics: dig, toe, flaps, shuffles and riff walks to name a few. Students will learn forwards and backwards movement as well as the basics of rhythm and timing.

Tap 1
Instructor: Terri Taylor

Tap 1 will continue to build skills adding the introduction of time steps, buffalos, maxi ford and waltz clog. The introduction of a variety of tap turns as well as cleaning basic steps such as shuffles, flaps, cramp rolls and riff walks. We will work on linking steps together, creating patterns and step combinations.

Tap 2
Instructor: Terri Taylor

Tap 2 is designed for the intermediate level tappers moving beyond the fundamentals. Basic tap skills should be clean and clear for this class. This class will explore syncopated rhythms and a variety of rhythm tap and music styles. We will also work advance turns, time steps, wings, pullbacks, paddle and roll, sequencing and combinations.

Advanced Tap
Instructor: Debbie Wilson

Advanced Tap is by teacher's approval only. You are expected to know a variety of timesteps, turns, pullbacks, graboffs, speed steps, and be able to pick up combinations quickly!

Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Jazz
Instructor: Kat Bahry, Christina Day, Jessica Will

The beginning class is designed for the student with an interest in learning basic Jazz dance technique. The student will gain increased flexibility, strength & coordination with emphasis on the proper technique & placement of the body while dancing, as well as retaining choreography. The intermediate level class is designed for the dancer with an interest in learning & increasing his/her Jazz dance techniques and style. Both Intermediate and Advanced Jazz will focus on new jazz dance movements, increased flexibility, and retaining more difficult choreography.

Ballet Technique 1 and 2
Instructor: Norine Brown

For beginning (1) and intermediate (2) students focusing on basic ballet technique, proper placement, balance and strength which will aid in all other classes. Particular emphasis will be placed on disciplined technique and vocabulary.

Musical Theater Dance
Instructor: Kat Bahry, Jinnae Barrett

This class is designed to introduce and/or reinforce classic musical theater dance steps that have been utilized through the ages in Broadway shows. Veterans and newcomers to musical theatre will enjoy this high energy fast paced class which covers warm-ups, proper dance technique and terminology, and the expression of emotions and character through movement. A routine will be performed on the last day of the session.
